rooted in experience
I’ve been a Registered Dietitian for more than 25 years, but my understanding of what it truly means to be healthy has evolved quite a bit along the way. For much of my life, I ate well, exercised regularly, and believed I was doing all the right things. But when I began experiencing unexplained exhaustion, irritability, weight gain, and the unsettling feeling of simply not being myself, I realized there was more to my health than I had understood.
Around that time, I was navigating perimenopause and received a diagnosis of Hashimoto’s, an autoimmune thyroid condition. I wanted to understand not just what was happening in my body, but why. That curiosity led me to functional medicine and a much deeper exploration of the interconnected systems that influence our health, particularly the gut, immune system, inflammation, and the role of nutrition in supporting them.
What I learned changed both my personal life and the direction of my professional work.
I began to appreciate how much our digestive health influences what happens throughout the body, including our skin. And how symptoms that seem unrelated may actually be connected. This understanding eventually led me to specialize in gut health and chronic skin conditions, helping others look beyond the surface to better understand what may be contributing to their symptoms.
Today, I practice much of what I encourage my clients to embrace. I focus on whole, nutrient-dense foods, use supplements thoughtfully, prioritize strength training, choose products that support a healthier home environment, and recognize the importance of rest. I certainly don't do everything perfectly, nor do I believe that good health requires perfection.
What matters to me is understanding what our bodies need and making thoughtful, sustainable changes that support our health over time.
That philosophy is at the heart of my work today. Whether someone is struggling with persistent digestive symptoms, acne, eczema, rosacea, or other chronic skin concerns, my goal is to help them understand the bigger picture and find a more personalized, lasting path toward feeling better.
